Liars won't believe anyone

This is a great U2 song - from a great U2 moment in their energy sucking Zoo-TV tour. The Fly, contains the line, “it’s no secret that a liar won’t believe anyone else.” I always think of that in an election season. And Barack Obama, if he wants to show a little good faith, should apologize for calling these Right-to-Lifers “liars”.

From the Anchoress

A Reasonable Distant Solution to the Economic Crisis

I have been looking carefully for a well thought out analysis and solution to the credit crisis. Found few cogent ideas. Particularly from politicians. They are bad economists. Liberals in particular.

BUT, from the Asian Wall Street Journal comes this pretty wise analysis. Worth listening to. Emphasis MINE:

The American financial system is in deep trouble. Regulatory moves to guarantee money market funds, the conversion of Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs into bank holding companies, and the Treasury's asset purchase proposal have staved off a crisis for now. These hurried actions have also bought us some time to consider what would be an appropriate way to revitalize the system.

Any plan has to fulfill at least
three objectives: It has to have a real chance of preventing the deep and prolonged recession that is likely to ensue if the financial system is not recapitalized. It should strive to achieve that first objective at the lowest possible costs to the U.S. taxpayer. And it should not bail out the existing investors to avoid sowing the seeds for the next crisis.

The Treasury plan to buy distressed securities in the marketplace -- proposed this week by Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson -- addresses only the first objective, and only indirectly. As we see it, t
he real concern about the financial sector is that it is undercapitalized, both because of the losses it has sustained and because of the growing risk aversion of lenders. Undercapitalized financial institutions are forced to try to reduce their assets, and, of course, this means they will make fewer loans, even to the healthy portions of the economy. The credit crunch that inevitably will occur implies lower corporate investment, less commercial and residential construction, fewer students getting college degrees, and in general, a much slower pace of economic growth. To avoid this contraction, levered financial institutions need more capital so that they can continue lending.

The plan attempts to recapitalize financial institutions in three indirect ways. By paying above the market value for illiquid assets (paying the hypothetical "held-to-maturity" value), the Treasury hopes to indirectly recapitalize institutions. By creating a market for illiquid assets and allowing prices to be established, it hopes other private players will enter the market, "liquifying" the market. Treasury also probably hopes that once the illiquid assets are off balance sheets, institutions will be able to raise capital, and will become more willing to lend.

These are sound intentions, but possibly inconsistent.
Paying a hypothetical "held-to-maturity" price will not help the market discover the true price that traders, who don't have the government's long horizons, are willing to pay. Moreover, it is not clear how that hypothetical price will be established through competitive auctions. Finally, of course, taxpayers bear the cost of overpaying (though they get the benefit of a sounder economy), with little or no direct help from the private sector.

There are many additional ways in which things could go wrong.
The institutions with the most toxic assets are the ones that have made the worst decisions, and are likely to be the closest to default. While they may get the most relief from selling assets, they are unlikely to turn around and expand their lending quickly (nor should they, given their record). In contrast, relatively healthy financial institutions that probably have the greatest ability to expand lending may not be those getting much of the additional capital in the Treasury plan for they have few illiquid assets to sell.

Modifications to the Treasury plan could help achieve more of the objectives we laid out earlier. As Senator Christopher Dodd has suggested, the taxpayer can get "contingent equity" from sellers that is equal to 125% of any losses the government bears on the assets it purchases from a given bank. This would compensate taxpayers in case the government buys assets at too high a price. We believe this is a useful feature that can both help reduce costs to the taxpayer and also reduce the need to get the price exactly right.
But we believe that it might be even better if the Treasury plan was divided into two components -- a plan to "liquify" certain moribund markets, thus allowing financial institutions to sell illiquid assets, and a plan to raise capital levels in financial institutions.

The first could be accomplished by adopting much of the Treasury plan, perhaps with Mr. Dodd's proviso.
The Treasury would buy assets through a reverse Dutch auction or some variant, but without any intent to overpay. The idea would be to jumpstart the market by establishing trading prices.

The second component, raising capital, could be achieved in other ways, for example through a mixture of a mandate and an offer of partial government support.
The authorities could require all regulated financial institutions, no matter how well capitalized, to present plans to raise 2% of their assets in additional capital over the next quarter to preserve the stability of the financial system. This increased capital will not represent an increase in the permanent level of required capital for bank holding companies, but instead give institutions the extra capital that will allow them to lend.

Why a mandate? Thus far banks have been urged to voluntarily go out and raise capital, and some, including Goldman Sachs on Wednesday, have. But banks, especially some of the best managed ones, have been hesitant, in part because potential investors might view a bank's approach to the market as reflecting the bank's expectation that it will have to bear additional losses, which will cause them to lose confidence in the bank.
The value of mandating this decision is that no individual bank sends an adverse signal to the market when it goes to raise capital.

Implemented collectively, the system would be recapitalized, with those getting the most upside from a healthy system helping pay for it. For those banks that find it difficult to raise capital even after selling assets to the government, the government could express a willingness to take a non-voting senior preferred equity claim, up to, say, half the capital that is required to be raised.
It is important, however, that some of the capital be raised from private sources, so that the government is a co-investor, and not seen as a patsy.

It would also be wise to require additional capital, even for well-capitalized institutions. This may seem like penalizing shareholders of well-performing firms. But in fact
these are institutions that could use the fresh capital very profitably in buying underpriced assets, making more loans, and taking over weaker financial firms. Well-managed institutions flush with capital will be key to averting a credit crunch, and drawing private institutions into illiquid markets.

The two components of the plan work together. Better-capitalized financial institutions have the capital to bear the losses if they sell assets at market prices. They can also raise new capital more quickly if they have sold off some of their dodgy assets and can present stable balance sheets to prospective investors. Nevertheless,
while raising the level of capital in levered financial institutions is important, it need not be subject to the rushed schedule of the modified Treasury plan. It would be best, though, to pass both components together.

We believe our proposals would reinforce the Treasury plan, give it a greater chance of success, and make it appear less unfair in the eyes of the U.S. taxpayer. And
if the financial sector is to escape the excesses of regulation that are likely to follow the recent period of under-regulation, it is extremely important that any rescue been seen as fair.

While this isn't the whole solution and I am hesitant on some of the features of this proposal, I do think that you back the winners and let the losers languish. Darwin is wrong about a lot of things but in economics (like the Chrysler Bailout) survival of the fittest must be the name of the game.

I want this operation run by the most heartless patriot anyone can think of. Jack Welch? Warren Buffett? Someone who doesn't owe anyone anything and who is not some academic
without market experience.

This is good thinking and needs to be in the equation.

The Father of Lies Strikes Fear Once Again

Watching the news, seeing all the analysis demonstrates a spiritual truth. Fear and worry causes bad decisions to be made. Cooler heads should be prevailing, but we are led by people of fear.

That was what put an anti
christ in leadership in Nazi Germany. That's how Stalin ruled Russia.

It's the stuff the devil uses to cause all kinds of people to do all kinds of damaging things. He is the father of lies and the author of fear according to the word of God. Satan is using lies and fear right now to cause panic in God's people. I say
Stop, in the name of Love.

That's not just a song from the 60's that's a prophetic declaration. We as the people of God must stop the fear. Jesus
thru out time has thru angels or in person admonished people to stop the fear. If he were standing right in front of you right now, he would say exactly the same thing: FEAR NOT!!

Sarah Palin - A Word Please

I make no secret of my admiration for Sarah Palin. I am hoping she will be our leader for a decade to come. She's a rare gift. If I could speak into her ear I would love to offer a word of wisdom.

Sarah, you need to be tougher. When Charlie and Katie ask the gotcha questions (and they will), like name 6 things, look them straight in the eye and say, Pop Quiz time eh? I'll answer that just as soon as you tell me the 6 major tax revisions I did in Alaska in order of Occurrence.

Oh, you don't know? Well I was just a little busy being chief executive officer of the state and haven't been memorizing everything that my running mate has done in the last 25 years of his noble service to this country. So, if it's OK with you I'll defer answering your gotcha question Katie.

These people are out to get you. Don't play the game. Call the slimeballs out.

I'm still angry about the question with no answer (The Bush Doctrine).

Time to get tough Sarah. Make it on your own merits, pick your battles. You are a breath of fresh air, you should not be compared to the stuffy eastern establishment. They gave us the mess that exists on Wall Street and in Washington. We need you to be YOU. Your contrast is your strength. Be strong.

Davey Crockett might have killed him a bar when he was only 3, but you can field dress a moose. That's what we love about you. Katie was in dire need of field dressing. Not murder. Just verbal evisceration. The press will hate you for it. That's a good thing. We'll love you. It will show you capable of standing toe to toe with world leaders.

Debate o Rama

I watched the debate last night like millions of others. My opinion is about as good as George Stephanopoulos'.

In the interest of equal time here are a few things I took away from the debate:

  • Hey Barry, John is a senator. He was when you were still riding your tricycle. He treats you with respect. Try being a little less arrogant buddy. It's Senator McCain to you.
  • The war is won. There were missteps. John McCain didn't declare the war. He went along with all the evidence at his disposal just like Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton in 2002 did. You are trying to hang a defeat that you tried to engineer around the neck of the guy who almost singlehandedly got Rummy fired and the war won. What a weasel you are. The American People know it.
  • Barry, I checked the ballot. I didn't see George Bush's name on it anywhere. He's retiring. Running against GWB is good politics but bad reality. Not that it ever bothered you in the past.
  • It's great that you did a little research so you could name all the people in NATO. Did your homework did you? OK. Would be better if you actually knew anything about these countries rather than have to cram for the exam. It was really obvious.
  • I looked at ya Barry, Thought about Russia, Thought about Iran, Thought about China. Thought about you sitting eye to eye with them, outclassed comes to mind.
  • SO, you claim you were against the war in 2002. You were a Junior State Senator in Springfield Illinois voting Present and trying to find the men's room when all that was going down. You couldn't pay your bills. Rezco hadn't yet greased your palm. You were a nothing. Still are.
  • You are a self important puff piece who knows how to cram for a test. You are comparing yourself to George Bush. The only difference between George Bush and you is he actually did something before he became President. Ball Team. Oil Company. Governor of a state. You've done, what: Community organized and voted present.

You are woefully inadequate for the job. You are Chauncy Gardner. Glib empty suit. The story is about you Barry:

Lefties constantly confuse glibness with intelligence (although intelligent people can be glib as well.) Obama is a glib master of esoteric B.S. and nothing more–and what good, ultimately, is esoteric B.S? Non-existent real, solid accomplishments and little demonstration of the superior “judgment” he constantly claims he possesses in such abundance.

Many years ago a sweet young thing with whom I was semi-seriously involved, in one of our tender moments looked up into my eyes and said: “Are you really smart? Or are you just glib?”

It was at that moment that I realized that I was going to have to drop her like a hot potato–she was far too analytical for my own good….Perhaps that question should be put directly to Obama more often….

In summary, you have nothing to offer Barry, but clever rhetoric, no experience, no analysis, no wisdom, no perception, no sound judgement, no courage and no moral compass. You will fool many of the fools and a few of the wise, but the nation is starting to see you for what you are, a Hart Shaffner and Marx size 36 without any net content.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain

I'll bet you didn't know that with all the negotiations with the 700 billion dollar bailout talk that the house of Representatives voted a 25 billion dollar loan fund for the automobile makers or the USA.

If the loan bailout wasn't going on this would have been a big deal. But a billion here and a billion there etc......real money!

I have a feeling this was a good time to slip this baby
thru. A diversion.

Automobiles that people want and have the money to buy would be a good thing to start with.

Not hybrids.

Seems like when all sailors are drunk they act alike. They just did.

25 billion dollar's worth.

I don't know if it's a true story, but the sentiment is right

This is a statement that was read over the PA system at the football game at Roane County High School , Kingston , Tennessee , by school Principal, Jody McLeod

'It has always been the custom at Roane County High School football games, to say a prayer and play the National Anthem, to honor God and Country.'

Due to a recent ruling b y the Supreme Court, I am told that saying a Prayer is a violation of Federal Case Law. As I understand the law at this time, I can use this public facility to approve of sexual perversion and call it 'an alternate lifestyle,' and if someone is offended, that's OK.

I can use it to condone sexual promiscuity, by dispensing condoms and calling it, 'safe sex.' If someone is offended, that's OK.

I can even use this public facility to present the merits of killing an unborn baby as a 'viable! means of birth control.' If someone is offended, no problem...

I can designate a school day as 'Earth Day' and involve students in activities to worship religiously and praise the goddess 'Mother Earth' and call it 'ecology.'

I can use literature, videos and presentations in the classroom that depicts people with strong, traditional Christian convictions as 'simple minded' and 'ignorant' and call it 'enlightenment.'

However, if anyone uses this facility to honor GOD and to ask HIM to Bless this event with safety and good sportsmanship, then Federal Case Law is violated.

This appears to be inconsistent at best, and at worst, diabolical Apparently, we are to be tolerant of everything and anyone, except GOD and HIS Commandments.

Nevertheless, as a school principal, I frequently ask staff and students to abide by rules with which they do not necessarily agree. For me to do otherwise would be inconsistent at best, and at worst, hypocritical... I suffer from that affliction enough unintentionally. I certainly do not need to add an intentional transgression.

For this reason, I shall 'Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's, and refrain from praying at this time.

' However, if you feel inspired to honor, praise and thank GOD and ask HIM in the name of JESUS, to Bless this event, please feel free to do so As far as I know, that's not again st the law----yet.'

One by one, the people in the stands bowed their heads, held hands with one another and began to pray.

They prayed in the stands. They prayed in the team huddles. They prayed at the concession stand and they prayed in the Announcer's Box!

The only place they didn't pray was in the Supreme Court of the United States of America- the Seat of 'Justice' in the one nation, under GOD.'

Somehow, Kingston , Tennessee Remembered what so many have forgotten. We are given the Freedom OF Religion, not the Freedom FROM Religion. Praise GOD that HIS remnant remains!

JESUS said, 'If you are ashamed of ME before men, then I will be ashamed of you before MY FATHER.'

The Ant and the Grasshopper, 2008 edition

The Ant and the Grasshopper, 2008 edition

With what looks like imminent passage of the Mother of All Bailouts (following on the heels of a year’s worth of government-funded rescues of private homeowners, lenders, insurers, and the automakers), Washington has turned Aesop’s famous fable about prudence and hard work on its head. The time is ripe for a revised 2008 edition of “The Ant and the Grasshopper:”

In a meadow on a hot summer’s day, a Grasshopper was chirping and carousing his time away. He watched scornfully as an Ant nearby struggled to store up large kernels of food and build a secure nest. The Ant pulled overtime shifts to pay off his loans and accumulate retirement funds for the future.

“Give it a rest,” the Grasshopper said. “Why bother saving and slaving and toiling and moiling? Let’s party!” The Ant demurred: “I am planning ahead for winter and you should do the same.” The Grasshopper blew off the Ant, squandered his supplies the rest of the season, and abandoned his home while on vacation (paid for by tapping every last cent of his home equity gain) instead of holding down a job.

When winter came, the Grasshopper’s pantry was empty and his shelter ruined from neglect. The Ant, weary from planting, harvesting, and stocking up for months, was dining comfortably in his nest.

Cold, hungry, jobless, facing foreclosure, and up to his two pairs of eyeballs in debt, the Grasshopper limped to the Association of Community Winged Insects for Rescue Now and demanded recourse. The office was swamped with thousands just like him. ACWIRN immediately put the Grasshopper to work registering dead ants as new voters.

Funded with tax dollars from the rest of the meadow’s residents, ACWIRN organized mass protests at the Bank of Antamerica, ambushed its top officials at their private homes, harassed their children, and demanded that the meadow’s politicians halt all foreclosures (”We must keep Grasshoppers in their houses!”) and outlaw discriminatory lending practices against starving, homeless Grasshoppers (”Well-stocked shelters are basic insect rights!”)

The banking industry capitulated; the Orthoptera Lobby secured hundreds of millions of dollars in housing earmarks and grants and counseling subsidies to support the Grasshoppers with the shadiest credit and employment histories. Antie Mae, the meadow’s government-backed home lending giant, fueled the push for increased insect homeownership in the name of biodiversity. Its executives cooked the books and headed for the hills. Katie Cricket and the Mainstream Meadow Media joined the grievance-for-profit circus, profiling Grasshopper sob stories and drumming up ratings as bewildered Ants wondered who was looking out for them.

The banks drowned in toxic debt. More Grasshoppers fell behind on their mortgage payments. Bailout mania and panic gripped the meadow.

Our little Ant, minding his own business, heard a knock on his door one late winter night a year later. It was his old, sneering Grasshopper neighbor. With ACWIRN’s presidential candidate, Barack Cicada, now in office, the Grasshopper had been hired by the meadow as a tax collector.

“I’m here to take your provisions,” the Grasshopper cackled.

But it was the Ant who had the last laugh. “I’ve learned my lesson,” he told his shiftless friend. “Why bother saving and slaving and toiling and moiling? I’ve spent all my savings. I’m walking away from my mortgage. Thrift is for suckers,” the Ant said as he headed out the door, leaving the Grasshopper empty-handed.

The Sarah Palin Prophecy

Here is what is supposed to be a slash and burn piece on Sarah Palin. I guess if you are ignorant of all things spiritual you would think this is unusual. NOPE. This is not only normal, it should be in all churches. What isn't shown in this is a prophecy the minister from Kenya speaks over Sarah Palin that defines her as a national leader leading the way.

If you don't understand this, it's your loss. This is exactly as Church should be. Pity if you are puzzled or offended by what is normal. You have a weird world view.

This weekend I will have a man from India who is a pastor in that area in fellowship. He will understand this. Only pagan America doesn't get this. It's their loss.

I hope that all the thing pastor says comes to pass in the USA. It's time to take over. The current folks are incompetent.

Must be Crushed, not allowed to just retreat to fight again

With apologies to the good theologian from NZ, sometimes you must crush(destroy) your enemies. Not defeat that allows them to retreat (so they can fight another day). In warfare it's essential for long term survival. It is so in politics there must never be quarter shown or given.

I have liberal friends, some I like very much. But, in this battle for the future of our nation there can be no compromise, there can be no orderly retreat. The radical left wing must be defeated and destroyed. There cannot be any other outcome.

If we lose we may not survive as a nation.

In the movie, PATTON there is a scene. I recall it this way:

It's snowing. The army has been stopped in their advance on the enemy. They are in limbo. A young Lieutenant comes to General Patton and says, "Sir, if it doesn't' stop snowing soon we are going to have to retreat".

Patton gives him a long cold stare, and in the hearing of all his officers in quarters he says, "Retreat? Retreat you say? We're not going to retreat, we're going to attack, we're going to attack them in the Morning, we're going to attack them in the Afternoon, we will attack them all night long if necessary. And if we do not succeed, let NONE of us come back alive."

Of course, they did attack, and they did prevail. It was painful. Costly. Difficult. But it saved the continent of Europe from domination by an evil philosophy.

We are now engaged in just such a fight. We must stay on the attack. We must not back down.

If we do not succeed, we may not come back alive.

There can be no surrender.

Drunks on a Train

Last evening Peggy and I went downtown Chicago to the Theater. Went to dinner first at 312, a restaurant that is so classic old school Chicago that if you turned your head you might think you saw Frank Sinatra walk in the door.

Then we went to see a play, Amadeus. About Mozart. It's part of a series we bought.

Now I know why I like Shakespeare. He could actually write. It was pitiful.

I looked at all the people on the street. It seemed to me that if we had a major economic collapse these people sitting in outdoor cafes, walking, going to the theater or opera, life will change. I can't financially do all they do, but I like the idea that I could. It's about opportunity and hope, not about despair and defeat.

I am convinced that we will weather this, but it will be painful.

Coming home we make the 10:40 train. Arrives Geneva at 11:55. There were two businessmen. They were drunk. VERY VERY drunk. The conductor sold them tickets. They were not loud or obnoxious, just falling down drunk. And, they had briefcases and Iphones. I would guess them middle 40s to 50s.

I in my past life have been there. I had compassion. It was interesting how people dealt with the presence of these two drunks on the train. Some laughed at them. Some ignored them. Some demeaned them. And one woman took pictures of them passed out or asleep with her cell phone and had a hoot.

I wondered if they had a clue what stops we were at and if they would get off at the right one. If in fact they might end up at the end of the line in Elburn alone and drunk with no way home.

I have been there.

So, I inquired of the conductor to where he had sold them a ticket. Geneva. Our stop.

Miraculously when the stop came and the train screeched to a halt the two men found their way off the train. I hope they didn't try to drive home, although by that point it was cool outside and they had an hour and a half to sober up a bit.

I wasn't going to leave them on the train. As I would have hoped no one would have done to me.

This was not a what would Jesus do Moment for me. This was a human moment with two drunk humans being stupid.

Like me.

I'm not very proud of my fellow travelers on the train's reaction to these men. Our culture is not perfect or even very good sometimes.

Disgust with Politicians - Vote against ALL Incumbents

There is no question that anyone we elect to any office will bring the baggage of their upbringing and the signal events of their lives with them, both for better or for worse, and so I don’t know that it’s completely fair to spend much time considering it. But it is probably unwise not to think about it a little, when trying to get a picture of the whole man, and a sense of whether or not he’ll be able to show some leadership in dire times.

Leadership, of course, is partly about “showing up.” It’s about not running away when things get hard, as Mrs. Pelosi wanted to last week. It is also about being able to make difficult, belt-tightening, unpopular decisions and stick by them. Whoever is next elected to the White House is going to have to be able to do that. He’s going to have to be a bit of a stern father, willing to be unpopular, for the good of the teenagers who just want everything to be chill.

We are living through a huge era of inauthenticity and illusion - the illusionists are on all sides, and they’re masters of misdirection; they get you looking one way, while they manipulate things in the other direction.

I’m a praying person and so I am going to pray for wisdom for our leadership and also within the electorate, that we might be guided toward the most authentic and clear-thinking of the candidates, the one most dedicated to serving the people of this nation, and not the elitists. We need authenticity. We need clear-thinking.

If you’re not a praying person, I have no suggestions for you, except kiss it up to the wind and trust your reason, I guess. But also, maybe - just maybe - do a gutcheck and trust your instincts. Your guts are there for a reason, and it ain’t just to digest guacamole and pablum.

From The Anchoress

Murder by Taser

They call it restraint. I guess when you are killed it's pretty restraining. I am against the whole taser thing. It puts a deadly weapon in the hands of Barney Fife, something even Sheriff Taylor never did.

This story about a man falling from a window after being tasered (he wasn't dangerous to himself or anyone, just a little crazy). I guess the penalty for being a little crazy is death in this country.

Or this story from Florida where a man, a dad, bipolar, was having a bad day and became combative. His family call the police to restrain him. They murder him by taser.

And a few others in the recent past. Where is the body count of the MSM on tasering? Are more people killed by taser than killed in Iraq? Maybe not yet, but soon.

Moberly, Mo.: Stanley James William Harlan, 23. Died Aug. 28. Tasered after he resisted arrest during a traffic stop.

Orange County, Calif.: Andy Tran, 32. Died Sept. 3. Tasered while struggling with officers who found him climbing through a residential window. He had a history of mental illness and encounters with police.

Rockford, Ill.: Keithedric Hines, 31. Died Aug. 10. Tasered by police as he tried to break into his ex-girlfriend's apartment. Also, Ernest Graves, 29. Died June 25. Tasered by police investigating his involvement in a domestic dispute. The coroner blamed his death on cocaine.

Swissvale, Pa.: Andre Thomas, 37. Died Aug. 4. Tasered after behaving erratically. A family attorney asked the state attorney general to investigate whether excessive force was used.

Birmingham, Ala.: Willie Maye, 43. Died June 5. Tasered when he struggled with police after fleeing a traffic stop.

Louisville, Ky.: Isaac Bass, 34. Died July 2. Tasered as police broke up a fight between Bass and his brother. The coroner ruled that Bass died of cocaine toxicity and heart disease.

Miami: Kenneth Oliver, 45. Died Aug. 15. Tasered after hesitating to put his hands behind his back during an arrest. His brother claimed that pins in Oliver's shoulders would have prevented him from complying with officers' orders. Police say he went into shock while in custody.

Why Obama will LOSE the Election

This canuk comes with the truth. Caution, do not read if you are an Obama Supporter. It will just depress you.

Being anti American is bad electioneering.

It's over.

From a Long Time ago, You might remember this if you are older, This has to do with politics

“Class”
  • Class never runs scared.
  • It is sure-footed and confident.
  • It can handle anything that comes along.
  • Class has a sense of humor.
  • It knows a good laugh is the best lubricant for oiling the machinery of human relations.
  • Class never makes excuses.
  • It takes its lumps and learns from past mistakes.
  • Class knows that good manners are nothing more than a series of small, inconsequential sacrifices.
  • Class bespeaks an aristocracy that has nothing to do with ancestors or money.
  • Some wealthy “blue bloods” have no class, while individuals who are struggling to make ends meet are loaded with it.
  • Class is real.
  • It can’t be faked.
  • Class never tried to build itself by tearing others down.
  • Class is already up and need not strive to look better by making others look worse.
  • Class can “walk with kings and keep it’s virtue and talk with crowds and keep the common touch.” Everyone is comfortable with the person who has class because that person is comfortable with himself.
  • If you have class, you’ve got it made.
  • If you don’t have class, no matter what else you have, it doesn’t make any difference.

Karl Marx was a community organizer; Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a Governor.

The Following is the buzz on the blogoshere. Sometimes I just poke around and find salient comments. These are in response to the interview with Katie Couric Sarah Palin had. I have indented every other one to give you separation. It gives you a taste of the zeitgeist. Palin is very very popular. She will make a great president.

Barack Obama is more qualified to be president than Sarah Palin because he has been running for president longer than she has. Obama/Reid/Pelosi is a scary thought. Three from the far, far left wing of the Democrat Party.

Liberal women become agitated and jealous of Palin''s natural attractiveness, intelligence, and pleasant demeanor. Liberal men, on the other hand, can only dream of finding a liberal woman as nice and attractive as Governor Palin.

Poor Katie, she''s been part of the devolution for so long she can''t recognize it any longer. The joke is that these people (Katie, Campbell brown, and ughhhh sally Quinn, etc) refer to themselves as progressives. I''m sure these brain trusts don''t think we know that the term refers to socialists/fascists and therefore is appropriate for them.

They have to hate Sarah because she denies their world view where 1) 90% of women kill their down-syndrome babies, where 2)none of their friends have relatives who would dare to serve in the armed forces, 3) where only those unwashed masses in flyover country dare to question the authority of these priggish snobs.

May they all rot in hell - but they will not take us and our country with them.

It is very ironic how the superior left intellect is so intent on the acceptance of individuality, no matter what the form, but can''t accept someone like Palin.

It is also humorous to me how imaginatively low they can go when countering someone like Palin. A comedy sketch about incest in the Palin family? Wow, that shows imagination!

Libs are a joke, almost entertaining in a sad way. To watch you clowns with your nasty attacks, the 5th grade playground mentality. never once raising a question about Obama''s relationships with very questionable people but trashing this hard working middle class successful woman from Alaska. You all worship Obama just as you worship the Hollywood elite trash and the reality of it is they could care less about you. The media is a joke and a failure, worshiping Obama and trashing McCain. God forbid the teleprompter breaks, most channels would be nothing but dead air because it''s clear these pinheads can''t think for themselves.

A message for the Socialists and their fellow travelers. Keep up bashing Sarah Palin. The more you do the more she soars in the polls. The truth is that those trashing her, for the better part, fall far short of what she is as a woman. She is honest, hard working, loves God, her family and her country. The only things Sarah hates is Socialism. You will find out on 11/4 just how many she has connected with that share her values and will summarily reject yours. Just remember I told you so.

I don''t proclaim to be a "political expert" by any means. The past 8 years though have made me lean toward the democratic side; however, I will not be voting democrat this November. The democratic ticket disturbs my very soul. I do think Sarah Palin is a very bright and intelligent person. She is very capable of handling the office. NO ONE comes into office, or any other job, already knowing everything. That includes Mr. Obama. The last time I checked, the office was not run by just the President & VP anyway, but with many department heads, cabinet members and advisers, just to name a few. I think she deserves the same consideration and chance that nearly half of voting America is willing to give Mr. Obama. I hate what the last 8 years have done to our wonderful nation, but, I think I''m going to have to vote Republican in November.

I''m glad to see that political correctness hasn''t affected the bigots who spout hate against the Pentecostal faith. It''ll be a sad day for all the cool people in the country when prejudice and hatred against Christians becomes unfashionable...all those cool people will have to find another pose to strike. What an inconvenience that would be!

Go Sarah, I am so happy to see a true conservative address the problem of our financial markets. I was a mortgage banker for the past seven years. All of us in the industry saw this coming. When the lending guidelines were relaxed to allow low income and poor credit people to get loans with little or no down payment and no income verification, we all knew this would happen. The sad part is everyone was in on it. The loan officers, the underwriters, the appraisal companies all the way up the ladder. Look at what the libs brought us by trying to level the home buying field fro people who had no business getting a loan. No matter how much we want to make all Americans home owners, there are just some people who don't deserve home loans and will never have good credit. Remember the fish rots from the head back and in this case i think its Barney Frank.

I just love how the kos kids keep repeating themselves. Nothing new just the same oh same oh. Following orders from Obama totally without any original thought of their own.

It is so obvious how scared they are and that Obama and his msm and kos friends will do and say anything to win this election. Read the kos website and they will say, "lets make up lies and keep repeating them until our friends in the msm picks up the ball and carries it for us". SAD

The reason liberal women hate Palin is because she is everything they are not: attractive, married, heterosexual, and happy with her femininity; not to mention she is very successful. Liberal women are single issue voters. They cast their votes strictly for abortion rights issues and they can''''t get over that one issue. Governor Palin, on the other hand, does not represent that line of thinking. Sure, she''''s pro-life, but there are other, bigger issues out there. Katie Couric is a mousy little upstart with no real journalistic experience. CBS can do better than this.

This women is certainly intelligent - not shallow or stupid - and neither is John McCain. You show your own inability to discuss issues by using such silly language!
You may disagree, you may see things otherwise, you may have never voted republican in your life and never will. But please, make an effort to focus on the issues instead of calling someone "stupid". NO wonder our country is so messed up. I guess some people live their life calling other people names - and I guess that way they defer responsibility from them selves... no thinking required.

Personally, I think Sarah Palin is a very capable and talented women. She is focused on the question and I think most Americans agree and want a bi-partisan solution and want it fast.

Why are there already anti-Palin comments posted when the entire interview has not even aired.

Sarah Palin is just as bright as Joe Biden, more in tune to America, more determined to reform Washington -handling herself fine!! She will do this country proud!! Joe Biden will be prying his foot out of his mouth until he retires. Now John McCain - there is a true American - I would want to be in his foxhole - anytime.

It''s too bad Palin isn''t the Republican candidate for Prez.

She would mop up Obama in a landslide.

The girl has spunk and she would be an awesome ambassador for the US around the world!

Go Sarah!

I don''t understand the comments regarding Palin''s experience. She clearly has more than Obama who was vetted by the democratic party. They seem to think it is perfectly OK to have a person with no executive experience, no real travel (except for 11 days this year) out of the country, no track record of success(having failed at everything he has done except being a student and maybe a dad), and no ability to think or speak without a teleprompter. Seems to me that Obama is merely affirmative action run amok. So if Obama is OK as president why would anyone criticize someone who has far more maturity, experience, and demonstrated successes than he?

Just reading some of the stupid comments made by the Liberals, its no wonder the folks like Gov Palin. When will the MSM leash all their might to investigate Sen Obama an Sen Biden???? The folks underestimated President Bush, I see they are doing it again. This Country really needs a lady like Gov Palin in the WH. I look forward to a race between Gov Palin an Hillary in four years.

Please. Someone list Barack Obama''s relevant experiences that make him a better candidate for President than Palin is for VP? Anyone? No? Didn''t think so. Face it. People are voting for him either because he is a far left liberal and that is what they are as well or because he is black and it makes them fell better to vote for him. It sure as heck isn''t based on his "experience" because all that even Obama can come up with is that he has "run a Presidential campaign." Pathetic reason to vote for anyone.

Catholic Pro Life Video You Must See

I am not a Catholic, but I approve of this video. They lay out the issue of life and this election more clearly than I could.

A Report on Persecution in India

I got this today. It's worth reading as you sit in your easy chair drinking coffee, (like I'm doing right now) and not feeling genuine persecution. Oh, we will. Satan is on the attack. If we will stand or fall is the real question when it comes. I suspect when the persecution comes many will scatter. Jesus beloved disciples did. They are standing still in India. Read this:

This report comes from a dear brother and leader in India.

Respected brethren in the Lord Jesus Christ,

Greetings in the sweet name of our Savior who said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." - Matthew 28:18-20

The nation of India is perplexed. The Church of God, irrespective of denominational difference, is attacked by the state governments, police, anti Christians – the enemies of the Cross. The national government, that is supposed to protect us, is a silent spectator. The enemy is determined to destroy us and wipe out the Church. One of their leaders boldly said after visiting Orissa that 'Christianity was birthed and flourished with the death of Jesus Christ. But now it will die in India with the death of our swami.'

The effects of the violence in Orissa:

ð 14 of 30 districts affected

ð In 14 districts of Orissa, 300 villages attacked and Christians are reeling in pain

ð Over 4,000 houses destroyed

ð Over 50,000 people affected

ð Over 40,000 people are hiding in forests

ð Over 12,000 are in Government refugee camps. A further 1,000 in private camps.

ð 5 people missing

ð 45 confirmed dead

ð 10 Pastors/Priests/Nuns seriously injured

ð Over 18,000 men & women injured (most in the forests)

ð At least 56 churches attacked, and still counting

ð 4 Schools and colleges attacked

The violence spread to Karnataka and MP. Now even Kerala has been attacked.

What should we do? Will this happen in other pockets too? What the church should do?

Let us pray for the heads of churches, Para churches, missions and heads of social work to come together and make strategies.

2. Please request the power point presentation that goes with this report from CMMarmy@gmail.com .

Facts speak. But is any one hearing? How can they hear when they are filled with hatred?

Let us pray for those who are attacking us.
Let us pray for those who are suffering.

Shared by a dear brother in India.

Long Term Hatred Causes Insanity

Sometimes I feel sorry for them. The radical left. They have had a mass delusion that for the last three quarters of a decade has manifested as a Bush Derangement Syndrome. It's hatred for George Bush at a decibel level and intensity which results in wild eyed screaming and accusations about baseless perceived persecutions of themselves or others.

Now at the end of his term that derangement has found a new source of hatred.

The supposed indictments are even more wild and even more radical in intensity over Sarah Palin. They know at the marrow that IF she becomes VP she will ultimately be POTUS for the next 12 years. This is terror in their eyes. Bush Derangement Syndrome has not transmogrified into Palin Derangement Syndrome. PDS.

This has caused a series of alien abduction level imaginings with conspiracies of evil that no one could even suppose a marginally sane person creating.

I don't know Naomi Wolf. I read a bit about her.

She appears to be over the top in a lot of things. She was a Clinton advisor. In reading her views on a number of things it I believe she has some insight. Her views on Pornography are pretty good.

Here's the problem with a person like her. Maybe like me. Maybe like a lot of friends of mine. She says 80% pretty good stuff but has a nutcase streak. Her psychosis manifesting as PDS was posted with Huffington. Reading this would be amusing if it wasn't so very sad.

When you get to the part about mail and other supposed persecutions you begin to see the disease. She is mentally ill. Like much of the radical left has become.

Irrational hatred over a long time like the radical liberals have had for a long time will cause a person, even a person with ability, to become irrational in their thinking. I believe that is what has happened to the Radical Left. As a group they have lost the capacity to see anything but red. Like the bull about to die in the ring. They charge hopelessly at the enemy they think they see and are skewered again and again by the insanity of the quest. Group think is manifested in Huffington and Daily Kos and other places to the point where the frothing at the mouth has become pathological.

If it wasn't so sad it would be funny. It's not.

The Radcal Left's Silver Bullet (they think)

Indignation. Being offended. Anger. Feeling hurt. ETC.

It doesn't work, but when I see the radical left all upset about something I see it for what it is.

False.

Taking our Medicine

Cod liver oil tastes bad, works good.

Surgery hurts.

Getting a tooth filled is uncomfortable.

If we don't suffer the pain of the cure the cure isn't a cure. I have a sense that we are delaying and numbing the pain of a cure that we need to have in our economy. The so called bailout isn't the answer. What we need is a new regulatory environment which in some cases means less regulation and in others regulation of activities that do not support a free and open competitive marketplace.

The Goal in regulation should be to make certain that all players in a capitalistic marketplace have an equal and opposite chance to make the self advised bets they want to make.

I have a few. It would quickly become esoteric and obscure to discuss them here. The truth is we have some regulations in place that exist because of knee jerk reactions to companies like ENRON.

The government coming nationalizing companies and becoming the default cosigner to every bad loan made in America is trying to heal without pain. It's not likely to happen and it won't work.

It is socialism.

What is worse than all this is when a disease is numbed but not cured it just prolongs the disease. The economy needs to take some aspirin, drink plenty of fluids, get under the covers and sweat it out. Then like Granny Clampet's cure for the common cold after a couple weeks it will get better.

I have considered the whole situation and this would be my prescription. The government should denationalize Bear Stearns and AIG tomorrow. Get out of the ownership of private equity in any form.

Second examine the rules and regulations we trade under and discard those that don't work. We are over regulated.

Then, find 1000 experienced business types who understand markets, who have made a payroll, who know economics, who have significant experience in the private sector as business owners (who are not academics) and put them in business. These must be mavericks and prone to being heartless in negotiation. They must be driven by a desire to make money. Greed.

The business they will engage in is to buy and sell (at a profit) bad loans. They will get a staff for analysis and accountablity. Then when Bear Stearns comes to them and says, Here, buy my loan, they say, How much do you want, they say 70%, he says, 20% and after significant haggling they end at 40%. Then the new owner decides to either redo the mortgage, foreclose or continue the service of the loan anew. If it's a pure bad debt he resells the debt to a collector and they have a shot at it. His money is made in dealing with the pain of the loans and trying to make a profit doing so.

Now, here's the motivation. Not for a paycheck, not for a pension but for profit. This person who is part of this new buysell group gets a chance to earn a commission on money he makes in this process. If after a year he has earned 500 million dollars he gets 15%. If he loses money he gets nothing and is fired without any pension or parachute. It's all or nothing. Make money, you're fine. Lose, you're out on the street. I know lots of people who would take this in a second. I would.

It would be best if this person were of Hebrew origin. I have dealt with some of them and they are very good at this sort of thing.

The trick to making this work is that no academic, no government employee gets to make any decisions. It must be a free market solution. The Barack Obamas of the world have no clue what this means. He has never made a payroll.

People who can do this are out there. Find any pawn shop. Hire them. The meaner and tougher the better. It's just good medicine.

Radical Liberals Treat Americans as Serfs and Caused the Economic Wall Street Crisis

Bloomberg.

Not a Conservative.

Rightly Blames Liberals for the Wall Street Crisis. I have maintained for a long time that a Liberal Economist is an oxymoron. If Liberals even had a smidgen of a grasp on economics rather than politics I wouldn't be so concerned.

Barack Obama doesn't have a clue on economics. McCain is marginally better. Palin understands it. Has demonstrated it.

Barack has most likely has never even read a book on economics. Otherwise he wouldn't be such a dunce in this area. He has no plan, only platitude.

Obama Turns Clockwork Orange

If you look at my Blogger profile you will see that one of my favorite movies of all time was Clockwork Orange. For a christian? Violence. Sex. Nudity?

OK, it's a little rough. I wouldn't want anyone to watch it with anyone less than about 30 and never in mixed company. It's that rough.

But, if you look past all that, it has great beauty in the creative language and the parody of failed social engineering that we see all around us today in the world. Clockwork Orange is part of why I am a social conservative. It demonstrates the bankruptcy of liberalism and it's degradation.

But that's another topic. This week Obama played a Droog. He was telling people to not take defeat lying down. To get in people's faces. And they are a mob of maniacs when WGN tries to put anyone on who counters the Obamaphenoma. Plus this last weekend, Obamachenine
screamed and yelled at older Americans. Like in Clockwork Orange only without the kicking.

Iowahawk hasn't missed this comparison. You have to read this parody of Clockwork Orange starring Barack Obama. It's very well done.

And, if you aren't afraid of becoming a conservative, rent Clockwork Orange. Shut your eyes in the nude scenes and then ask the question, is this where we are headed or are we already there?

Watching Obamedia Bias in Action or Palin Beats Obama 3-1 unreported

This weekend Obama spoke in Florida. He walked on water, raised people from the dead and fed five thousand. About 20,000 people showed up. A good crowd. McCain got 3000 on the same day. If you read this story, that's about all the news that was, folks.

The overflow crowd at Jacksonville's Metropolitan Park -- capacity 13,000 -- ate it up. The energy was notable because though Democrats outnumber Republicans in Duval County, it is a reliable area for the GOP. George Bush got nearly 1 ½ times more votes than John Kerry in 2004. McCain could barely muster 3,000 when he spoke nearby on Monday.

A strongly black area, Jacksonville buoyed Obama in the Democratic primary, giving him nearly 50 percent of the votes to Hillary Clinton's 33 percent -- the exact opposite of the final numbers for the entire state. Obama played to the crowd, quoting Marin Luther King and subtly recalling a Malcolm X speech by telling the crowd not to be ''hoodwinked'' and ``bamboozled.''

Crowd counts, however, aren't as good a measure as political polls. And a message trailed behind a plane circling overhead underscored what early polls indicate: ``Florida is McCain & Palin Country.''

OF COURSE, you have to read a little bit between the lines because, crowd counts were what was all the buzz.

YOU SEE, Palin on the same day had a little rally. 60,000 people came out.

"Sa-Rah! Sa-Rah!" they chanted at every mention of her name, applauding loudly and waiving tiny American flags that were distributed -- along with free water bottles -- by local volunteers. The fire chief estimated the crowd at 60,000.

Admiring throngs mobbed the Palin family's arrival and departure, snapping souvenir pictures. Autograph seekers thrust campaign signs, caps with the McCain-Palin logo and copies of magazines with her face on their covers, and the Palins responded warmly.

OH, you didn't see that on CNN or MSNBC? Where are the crowd pictures on the front of the NYT? I mean when Obamessiah has a crowd you get plenty of him and the adoring masses.

It's simple. The MSM really wants to marginalized the energy in this campaign that is Sarah Palin. The polls are narrowing. Obama is playing catch up. Oh, I see the poll numbers. Iowa is swinging back to Obamanation again. They always seem to vote against their best interest.

It's just fascinating to watch the bias in media coverage. I smell real fear among the sycophants. It looks to me that they see Obama snatching defeat from the Jaws of Victory and want him to stop NOW. I'm hoping he keeps on reaching for that defeat mode.

Go Sarah and that guy.
