All thru the Bush years, all during Gerald Ford’s administration the comedy skits lampooning them were often mean spirited and designed to reduce their stature in the eyes of those who watched the shows. Tina Fey’s ridicule of Sarah Palin. The constant drip drip drip on Michelle Bachmann.

Last week’s Saturday Night live skit on Obama’s nocomplishments was a tipping point. Now with the April Fool Nobel and the NOlympic Fumble let the poking of fun at his pomposity commence.

He is about to become Mr Butt of Many Jokes. Just like Bush was, Gerald Ford, Sarah Palin et al.

Since he is such a toad and took great pride in constantly lampooning Bush and Palin I watched the monologue for Letterman last night. NOT A PEEP to speak of regarding the April Fool Nobel.

Sure, he took a shot at Palin.

But, now the shoe is well fitted for the other foot. Turnabout is fair play. Obama is now the punch line of the Joke. Maybe he IS the Joke.

RE-DIGGING THE WELL OF HEALING? (Gen 26:15—18)

At night, when I was young, weird screeches and rumblings over our town worried me. “Dredgers”, mother informed me. Mud ships with endless chains of buckets kept the estuary shipping channels of the river Elbe clear, which quickly silted up and would soon close the whole vast port area of the city of Hamburg.

Have we come to it that the old wells are logged up and need re-opening? Is it really the case today, a century after the Pentecostal movement was born, that the healing waters need dredging? Is the River of God silted up? In many places I hear healing being more DISCUSSED than PROCLAIMED… they speak about “The problem of healing”. The sands of worldly and of Christian unbelief clogged the wells of the supernatural. But Divine miracles are of an order that those without faith can’t see them.

The truth is that Jesus has not lost His compassion for the sick when He ascended to heaven. He never changes. He is the same. Don’t try to re-dig Abrahams's old well, as Isaac did. There is much more waiting for you. God’s River of love and power is flowing freely towards you right now. TRUST JESUS. “Rise and be healed in the name of Jesus”. Two years ago today the Dow hit a record close of 14164.53. It's now about 31% below that mark.

Two years later, we seem to be happy with a little over half.

We should be. BUT, even at this level, it's not secure by any rate.

This is a picture of Multiflora Cotoneaster. Big shrub, showy berries that stay on after leaf drop. makes a nice show and feeds the birds. I didn't plant it, it was here want I came.
















This is the planter just outside our patio area in the back. I take most of this stuff in the greenhouse in the fall. Not quiet yet, but very soon. It's pretty with the purple wave petunias. There is a petunia smell memory I carry from my youth. Love it.
















The hardy deciduous holly. Winterberry. Ilex verticillata. When the leaves fall if we get to it before the birds do, it's a beautiful addition to a floral arrangement outdoors.















Our front yard just outside the window. We don't need no drapes because we are surrounded. We have em, but we don't need em.

















One is this crab, Prairie Rose. It is fruitless and has a glorious double pink flower. It's also pretty much disease free. I'm planting it right where the Yellow mums are. Note the native planting behind. It's my neighbor. I like it. Lot's think it looks weedy.


Right at the end of our driveway is this planting. To the right is a trellised late clematis, two colors of asters and morning glory.

















The cockscomb mixed with moss roses is a multicolor circus. And Morning Glory everywhere.

This is an outrageous lie — but not surprising from Olbermann.

It's true Sarah Palin's book is hitting the top of the online charts.

But the truth is that Newsmax has not purchased one book from Amazon.

The National Snow and Ice Data Center released its summary of summer sea-ice conditions in the Arctic on Tuesday, noting a substantial expansion of the extent of “second-year ice” — floes thick enough to have persisted through two summers of melting. The result could be a reprieve, at least for a while, from the recent stretch of remarkable summer meltdowns.

According to the center, second-year ice this summer made up 32 percent of the total ice cover on the Arctic Ocean, compared with 21 percent in 2007 and 9 percent in 2008. The percentage of ice that was many years old, forming thick pancaked expanses, was at its lowest since satellite observations began 30 years ago. But that could change next year as the second-year ice adds mass through the long winter freeze.

A noted geologist who coauthored the New York Times bestseller Sugar Busters has turned his attention to convincing Congress that carbon dioxide emissions are good for Earth and don’t cause global warming. Leighton Steward is on Capitol Hill this week armed with studies and his book Fire, Ice and Paradise in a bid to show senators working on the energy bill that the carbon dioxide cap-and-trade scheme could actually hurt the environment by reducing CO2 levels.

“I’m trying to kill the whole thing,” he says. “We are tilting at windmills.” He is meeting with several GOP lawmakers and has plans to meet with some Democrats later this week.

Much of the global warming debate has focused on reducing CO2 emissions because it is thought that the greenhouse gas produced mostly from fossil fuels is warming the planet. But Steward, who once believed CO2 caused global warming, is trying to fight that with a mountain of studies and scientific evidence that suggest CO2 is not the cause for warming. What’s more, he says CO2 levels are so low that more, not less, is needed to sustain and expand plant growth.

Trying to debunk theories that higher CO2 levels cause warming, he cites studies that show CO2 levels following temperature spikes, prompting him to back other scientists who say that global warming is caused by solar activity.

The Recession is Over, the Depression has JUST BEGUN

When the stock market behaved as it has the last few days I knew something was in the air. The ghost of Kodratiev visited me. Not actually, but you know what I mean.

It's like watching a hot air balloon run out of propane and springing a lead at the top at the same time. While everyone admires how high it has gone, how wonderful it all is, the people in the balloon know that trouble just started.

Then I read this LOOOOONG post from Edward Harrison. Someone I admire.

He clearly defines the reason that this thing is, well, full of hot air.

And the direction isn't good. IF the economy matters to you and if you have the perseverance to study and read the whole thing, you will understand what's happening and about to happen.

Public Education developed the Liberal Ignorance that Leads to Death

Two stories, one about the dangers of contaminated spinach and another on the NY Times’s ignoring of irradiation as a preventative for food borne illness, show us how the moral posturing and emotional hysteria of the anti-nuclear-power left have not only vastly contributed to global warming, mercury poisoning, strip mining, general air pollution, etc. but have also been responsible for the deaths and maiming of virtually everyone who suffered from food-borne microbial illness in the last 40 years.

Food irradiation is a process by which foods are zapped with a sudden burst of radiation that kills microbes but leaves the food otherwise unaltered. It’s exactly the same process as pasteurization except that it uses radiation instead of heat, with the added benefit that it doesn’t alter the taste or nutritional content of the treated food. It leaves zero radiation in the food. The technique was first developed during WWII and during the next 20 years it was tested, retested and tested again for safety. They force fed generations of lab rats massively irradiated food and never found the least hint of problem. By the early ’60s at the latest, it was proven beyond all doubt that irradiation was a safe and highly effective means of preventing microbial contamination of food.

Despite this overwhelming scientific evidence, ever since the mid-1960s anti-nuclear leftists have demonized irradiation and created such anti-irradiation hysteria that for decades no politician could even think of allowing the irradiation of food, no matter how many lives it would have saved. Virtually everyone who has gotten sick from eggs, meat, vegetables, etc. in the last 40+ years has done so needlessly. The hundreds of immune-compromised people who die of salmonella every year didn’t have to die that way. All of the hundreds of people, many of them children, crippled or killed by E. Coli did not have to suffer. The people killed and maimed by contaminated leafy vegetable didn’t have to die.

How do leftists justify this callous disregard for human suffering? Hubris.

Just as they always do, leftists give more weight to highly hypothetical dangers they imagine decades down the road than they do to people suffering and dying right here, right now. They trust their own self-aggrandizing theories more than they trust the evidence of their own eyes. They have such confidence in their intellects that they can easily convince themselves that people dying now is much better than the far worse consequences that their infallible intellects tell us with divine certainty lie down the road should we not listen to our intellectual betters. So, in their arrogance, they stand by and watch children die while confidently stating that the children’s deaths forestall even worse horrors in the future.

They use the exact same arrogant process to block genetically-engineered foods, even foods engineered to prevent specific short-term harms like blindness caused by Vitamin A deficiency.

We should be glad that with irradiation and genetically engineered food we got off relatively easily. The same hubris led the same people to unleash Pol Pot on Cambodia. They confidently predicted that the people of Cambodia would be better off living under the rule of an insane, totalitarian communist than they would be fighting off the communists. Most of the evils of extreme socialism have been justified in the West on the same premise, that it’s better for people to die now for the good of the future that it would be to save lives now and deal with the real (as opposed to the imagined) future when it comes.

Fortunately, in the case of irradiation, deaths from contaminated vegetables have led even vegans to begin to support irradiation to save lives. It’s forty years too late but I suppose we must take what we can get. We can’t always count on being that lucky. We need to be more aggressive in calling leftists out for their willingness to let people die for the sake of their theories. As the stakes get bigger, such as with global warming, we could be looking at body counts too high to measure.

Pollution

This used to be a beautiful vista along Shabbonah road in DeKalb County. It's now been despoiled by these ugly windmills for 5 miles. Hundreds of the monsters. Ted Kennedy didn't want them despoiling his view on Martha's Vineyard. Why do we have to put up with it. OH, and there are no power lines from them.




My question is, who is going to clean this mess up when the power companies that put them up go bust and abandon them. Will a naked post stand there for our Grandchildren and great grandchildren to wonder, "What ever possessed Grandpa and Grandma to allow this kind of idiocy to take place on their watch"?

This is pollution of the worst kind trying to fulfil some liberal fantasy about energy production. I have a clue for you. It's all a scam. You heard it here first. I hope President Palin can fix this.

The TWO Tentacles Destroying our Children

John Armstrong posted a "review" of sorts of an HBO special about Teenage Suicide. It's good as far as it goes. But it leaves hanging the question of what to do. His last line about simplistic reveals the issue. It is and yet isn't simplistic. First the conclusion of his post. A suicide note was left behind of the 16 year old boy that killed himself.

In the last few minutes of the film the suicide note that Evan left behind is put on the screen. Evan listed six things to die for and six things to live for. His list is both chilling and revealing.

Six Things to Die For:

1. Fear of failing
2. Lack of trust in friends
3. Working hard for what?
4. Never being able to fit in
5. Knowing all the bad things are true; being lazy, loser, ugly, untalented and stupid
6. What’s the point?

Six Things to Live For:

1. Potential for being something great
2. Love of the people I trust
3. The future
4. Finding trusted friends
5. Sadness brought to family
6. Feeling better later

He concluded his note by writing: “So, six things to live for and six things to die for.” When you consider it these words seem almost clinical.

There is so much on both these lists that is true for many teenagers today. The statistics tell us that teen suicide is the number two killer among young people in America. If you want to get a sense of this tragedy Boy Interrupted provides it in large doses.

Mental disease is quite real. Christians who think otherwise should see this dark and powerful documentary. It refuses to provide simplistic answers.

My problem with that conclusion is that it misses the point. There are simplistic worldly answers that are band aids, but there are genuine answers. First the right question has to be asked. What is at the root of this problem. Why are young.people killing themselves. It's demonic. So, as a Christian, what are we supposed to do in reaction to demons oppressing and destroying others? What did Jesus do? What should we DO?

The simplistic worldly answer is counseling, drugs and perhaps institutionalization. I don't think the parents of Evan missed any of that.

The fact is we can offer what we have if we have it. We can't impart what we don't possess.

Appearing at the same time was an interview with a man who had a vision of the demonic forces behind this epidemic. Since I believe God and believe his prophets I take this seriously.

Insecurity and Inferiority BOUND

Today I watched Sid Roth's "It's Supernatural" and his guest was Steve Foss. It was one of the most revealing shows I've ever watched.. I recommend you watch it several times. Basically, he says that he found himself caught up in a vision, and saw a highschool... And He was Binding, and Rebuking all of the demons that he saw, their names were on them... Most are common for highschool students... Drugs, Rage, Lust, Depression... But he said that everytime he would fight against them, it was like they were blown back, but then came back full force... They were connected to two large tentacles, that came out of both sides of the Highschool... And he realized that this was where these demons got their strength... He prayed, he says, for about 40 minutes, because these demons didn't have a name... Finally, he says, God showed him their names, which were in their roots, under the ground... The first was Insecurity, and the other was Inferiority... It's an amazing revelation, because I realize from past experience, most of the sins that I have knowingly done, stemmed either from Insecurity, or Inferiority...

That spoke to me because of all the demonic influences on our children and grandchildren, inferiority and insecurity are the worst.

Insecurity because people don't know how secure they are in Jesus. If you kill this body you can't kill my soul. That is ultimate security.

Inferiority. Sometimes I think the "hierarchy" in Christianity lends itself to this. I recall a recent discussion with a man who talked in term of the Pastor needing to be much better. Hierarchy.

And, we feed that. We hold all the letters behind our name or even our titles up as badges requiring respect. I have been guilty of that.

So, in the most "christian" way. Let's get the insecurity out of the way and make people feel fully equal or better. As leaders we have it within our power to facilitate it. Let's save this generation by showing them the greatness they have in Jesus and the absolute security they walk in. That's why I love the Prophetic. It offers that in ways that are supernatural.

I guess that's why Sid Roth said what he does about his program....It's supernatural.

Comparing Barack H. Obama and Sarah Palin as President

There is no burden of intellectual superficiality to her, as there is with Barack Obama, a man who has shown remarkable poise and oratory talents when he is properly handled, but wobbles when put in the hot seat without his notes.

These are two of the things we like about her the most. We're tired of intellectual superficiality, which leads to things like "creative ambiguity" -- which solves nothing. She may wobble in the hotseat without notes -- Obama will stutter with "uh... uh..." and throw out platitudes and "creative ambiguity" -- sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Obama is the culmination -- the end result of that kind of politics. It leads to government being all things to all people and we've seen where that road goes.

Palin's values are grounded in the founding values of this nation, and at least half of us hope she or someone like her will lead the country back to those roots.

Remember the movie "Dave", where Kevin Kline's character is an impersonator (Dave Kovic) who looks just like the President Bill Mitchell. Dave ends up "playing" the role of the president when Mitchell goes into a coma. Dave brings in his accountant friend (Murray) to help find money in the federal budget to fund a program to help the homeless, and in the end, Dave does a pretty decent job at being a president.

Sarah Palin is kind of a female "Dave" of sorts. Jimmy Carter was a nuclear scientist, yet he felt he had to personally review all requests to use the White House tennis court. Bill Clinton won a Rhodes scholarship to Oxford, yet he thought that people would believe him when he said he didn't inhale marijuana smoke, or have sex with a lowly intern in the White House. And just look at all of the "smart" people who got the world's financial house in such a mess with Collateralized debt obligations (CDO's) and credit default swaps.

Sarah Palin might not be "educated" smart, but I believe she is "common sense" smart.

I am ready to vote for Sarah Palin for President. She can do it.

Obama's 'overwhelming' naivete

John Bolton speaking at Drake Law School said:

The Bush administration’s former ambassador to the United Nations gives President Obama “a very, very low grade” in foreign affairs and worries that the president’s “naive Wilsonism is leaving us defenseless.”

“I think his naivete is overwhelming,” John Bolton told an overflowing lecture hall at Duke University’s law school Thursday night. The president doesn’t understand, he said, that “it’s not American strength that’s provocative, it’s American weakness.’

Bolton, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute who also served in high diplomatic posts in several Republican administrations, said Obama has not yet “transitioned from being a candidate to being a president.”

Nor, he added, has Obama “transitioned from being a legislator to being an executive.”

That lack of experience, Bolton said, combined with the naivete, is “a combustible combination.’

This will make my Friend Harold H homesick. God LOVES a cheerful giver, they ain't no mo cheerful than this!
